Designed for dedicated students committed to building competitive portfolios (including supplemental portfolios) for college admissions across all majors, as well as for selective and prestigious art competitions—helping teen artists boost their college resumes by achieving recognition, building a strong record, and standing out in today’s highly competitive college admissions process.

This program supports middle and high school students in developing strong, cohesive portfolios for college admissions, while encouraging them to express their unique voice, perspective, and creative passions through their body of work. Portfolios developed by students at Shineh Art Studio have consistently been well received by colleges and universities across the country. In addition, the studio annually welcomes representatives and recruiters from notable art colleges, offering students valuable opportunities for direct portfolio feedback and presentations.

Program Expectations:

Students enrolled in the Portfolio Prep Program are expected to have a strong foundation in both traditional dry and wet media, including charcoal, collage, watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting. This ensures they are prepared to confidently engage with advanced, portfolio-level assignments.

Program Highlights:

- Opportunities to participate in selective and prestigious art competitions at the local, state, regional, and national levels

- Individually tailored lesson plans designed to support each student’s portfolio development and artistic goals

- Invitations to college presentations and events, with opportunities to receive one-on-one portfolio reviews from art school admissions representatives and directors
