Our Students' College Acceptances

PREREQUISITE REQUIRED

Minimum 2 years of Intermediate Fine Arts or 1 year of Advanced Fine Arts is required.

For new students: If your child already has a recent portfolio of artwork, you are welcome to submit it for review to determine eligibility for the program. You may either visit us in person or email the artwork to shinehartstudio@gmail.com.

Designed for dedicated and passionate middle and high school students, this program focuses on building strong, competitive portfolios—including supplemental submissions—for college admissions across all majors, while also preparing work for top-tier and highly selective art competitions. It helps students strengthen their applications through highly sought-after recognition, a well-developed body of work, and a clear, distinctive presence in today’s highly competitive admissions landscape.

The program guides students in creating cohesive, compelling portfolios for both college applications and prestigious competitions, while fostering the development of their individual voice, perspective, and creative interests. Portfolios developed at Shineh Art Studio have been consistently well received by colleges and universities nationwide, as well as recognized in top-tier competitions at the regional, state, and national levels.

The studio also hosts visiting representatives and recruiters from leading art schools, such as the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Rhode Island School of Design, providing students with valuable opportunities for direct feedback, portfolio reviews, and presentations.

Program Expectations:

Students enrolled in the Portfolio Prep Program are expected to have a solid foundation in both traditional dry and wet media, including pencil and charcoal drawing, as well as acrylic and oil painting. This preparation ensures they can confidently engage with advanced, portfolio-level assignments.

Program Highlights:

- Compete in selective, top-tier art competitions at local, state, regional, and national levels

- Receive individually tailored lessons to support portfolio development and artistic goals

- 10th–12th graders: One-on-one portfolio reviews with admissions representatives and directors during their visits to the studio
